Gage Park Latinx Council

Youth Programs

Youth Programing is at the core of our work at GPLXC due to Covid-19 we have reimagined how we connect with the youngest residents of Gage Park this summer and have shifted our programing to address our communities current needs.

yOUTH literacy

Our Youth Literacy Initiative has gone virtual with bilingual stories read by GPLXC members. You can find our virtual stories Here.

Our Bilingual Youth Literacy Initiative creates space to encourage youth to engage with books in both English and Spanish. It exists to serve as a bridge for parents who may not speak English by engaging them and their youth in reading and listening to stories together. While encouraging youth to practice and retain their Spanish skills.

 - Our Youth Literacy Initiative helps Gage Park youth start their at home libraries by providing them with free books.

- We connect early readers with reading groups in both English and Spanish cultivating community amongst youth.

- We encourage reading and writing at an early age and offers support to parents of young children to engage their youth in reading and writing.
