Before it was a program, it was a principle: we take care of each other.

GPLXC's work has always been rooted in a simple idea: people should not have to face difficult moments alone.

Over the years, that principle has taken many forms.

Sometimes it looks like mutual aid.

Sometimes it looks like Juntas Nos Apoyamos.

Sometimes it means creating a space where people can breathe, connect, talk, laugh, make something, or simply know that they belong.

Sometimes it means responding when our communities are facing circumstances that no one organization could solve alone.

Community care is not about pretending that everything is okay.

It is about building relationships strong enough to help people move through difficult things together.

That is part of what makes grassroots organizations different. We are close enough to our communities to see needs that can be invisible from a distance. We know that support isn't always a service delivered from an institution to a recipient. Sometimes support is neighbors helping neighbors.

GPLXC has spent nearly a decade building those relationships.

Now we have to make sure those relationships can continue.

The next decade will bring new challenges, new needs, and new opportunities.

Our response cannot depend entirely on crisis-by-crisis fundraising.

We need the stability to maintain spaces for connection and care before an emergency happens, not only after.

That requires a community of supporters who understand that the infrastructure behind care matters too.
